Cybersecurity M&A Roundup for November 2022

Thirty-five cybersecurity-related merger and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in November 2022. An analysis conducted by SecurityWeek showed that more than 230 mergers and acquisitions were announced in the first half of 2022.

1Password acquires Passage Identity

Password manager provider 1Password has acquired passwordless authentication company Passage Identity. 1Password will use Passage’s technology to launch a passwordless authentication platform for enterprises.

Anonos acquires Statice

Anonos, a company that specializes in protecting data in use, has announced buying Germany-based data anonymization software provider Statice. As a result of the deal, Anonos expands its ability to help enterprises protect data privacy. The Statice synthetic data technology will be integrated with the Anonos Data Embassy platform.

Boxx Insurance acquires Templarbit

Canada-based cybersecurity and cyberinsurance provider Boxx Insurance has bought Templarbit, a US-based company that provides automated attack surface management and third-party risk assessment solutions.

Codasip acquires Cerberus Security Labs

German processor design company Codasip has acquired IoT security firm Cerberus Security Labs. Cerberus’ IoT security technology and experts will enable Codasip customers to quickly embed secure solutions for RISC-V processor designs.

Datadog acquires Cloudcraft

Datadog, a company that has developed a monitoring and security platform for cloud applications, has announced the acquisition of cloud infrastructure visualization service Cloudcraft.

Edgesource Corporation acquires Auspex

Edgesource has acquired Auspex, a provider of data analytics, cybersecurity, and management consulting services to the intelligence community. The acquisition will expand Edgesource’s capabilities in the national security sector. Auspex will operate under the same brand as a wholly owned subsidiary of Edgesource.

Human acquires clean.io

Human (formerly White Ops), a cybersecurity company that protects enterprises from bot attacks, fraud and account abuse, has acquired clean.io, which specializes in malvertising prevention. The transaction will help Human enhance its capabilities.

Ruder Finn acquires Touchdown

PR company Ruder Finn has acquired Touchdown, a UK-based PR agency specializing in enterprise technology, including cybersecurity and data protection. The deal will help Ruder Finn expand.

Secure-IC acquires Silex Insight’s security business

Secure-IC, a France-based firm that provides embedded cybersecurity solutions, has acquired the security business of Belgium-based Silex Insight. The newly acquired solutions complement Secure-IC’s portfolio.

Splunk acquires TwinWave

Splunk has acquired automated threat analysis platform TwinWave. TwinWave’s products and services expand Splunk’s security analytics and automation capabilities.

ThreatLocker acquires Third Wall

Endpoint security company ThreatLocker has acquired Third Wall, a cybersecurity plug-in for ConnectWise Automate software designed for MSPs. The deal will enable ThreatLocker to enhance its capabilities.

WHEN Group acquires majority stake in CrossMobile

World Health Energy Holdings (WHEN), a telecom and cybersecurity company has acquired a majority stake in CrossMobile, a GSM telecom operator in Poland.

CloudWave acquires Sensato Cybersecurity

Healthcare data security provider CloudWave has acquired healthcare-focused managed security services provider (MSSP) Sensato Cybersecurity in an effort to expand its cybersecurity portfolio. Sensato’s cybersecurity-as-a-service platform will be available immediately as part of CloudWave’s new Sensato Cybersecurity suite.

Dropbox acquires Boxcryptor

Dropbox has announced buying Boxcryptor assets in an effort to bring end-to-end encryption to business users. Boxcryptor is a German company that provides end-to-end zero-knowledge encryption for cloud storage services.

Mangopay acquires Nethone

Luxembourg-based payment solutions provider Mangopay has acquired Poland-based fraud detection and prevention company Nethone. Nethone will enable Mangopay to enhance its anti-fraud capabilities, but Nethone will remain a standalone company.

Open Systems acquires Tiberium

Managed detection and response (MDR) services provider Open Systems has acquired UK-based automation- and collaboration-focused XDR provider Tiberium. Open Systems will leverage Tiberium’s capabilities to help customers prioritize and address risks.

Palo Alto Networks acquires Cider Security

Palo Alto Networks plans to spend $195 million in cash to acquire Israeli startup Cider Security in an effort to add software supply chain security capabilities to its Prisma Cloud platform.

RegScale acquires GovReady

Governance, risk and compliance (GRC) company RegScale has acquired GovReady, an open-source compliance-as-code platform. RegScale said the deal enables it to expand its GRC platform.

Sopra Steria acquires CS Group

French IT services giant Sopra Steria has announced plans to acquire French IT services company CS Group for €282.5 million ($290 million). The acquisition would boost Sopra Steria’s expansion in cybersecurity, making it one of France’s main players in cybersecurity.

Veriforce acquires CHAS

UK-based risk management and compliance services provider CHAS has been acquired by Thoma Bravo-backed supply chain risk management solutions company Veriforce. The combined company becomes a major supply chain risk management solutions provider.
